My approach

My approach is eclectic, holistic, compassionate, and culturally sensitive. Regardless of what we do together, I find it important to identify your values. Identifying values can be important in all situations because values give us direction. Additionally, I find it helpful to incorporate mindfulness practices. While we are doing our work together, I will help you understand how your mind and body are connected, allowing you to bring more awareness to your experiences.

ERP

Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP) is the gold-standard psychotherapy for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). ERP allows you to practice confronting the thoughts, images, objects, and situations that make you anxious, combined with you making the choice to not engage in a compulsion to get rid of the distress. Initially, I will guide you through ERP treatment, and once we agree you are in a place to do so, you will eventually learn to do ERP exercises to help manage your symptoms on your own.

emdr

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that allows individuals to work through “stuck” memories, while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements or tapping). The bilateral stimulation is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the memories. EMDR can be used for trauma, anxiety, limiting core beliefs, and more. I offer 90 minute EMDR sessions when clinically appropriate.
